EIKANCE 0.01% EYE DROPS

If your child has been diagnosed with myopia, the condition needs to be managed by an Eye Care Professional such as your Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. Your Eye Care Professional has a range of management options to provide clear vision and also slow the progression of myopia. These options include specifically designed spectacle lenses, contact lenses and low dose atropine eye drops which are instilled at night before bed.

Eikance 0.01% Eye Drops is a prescription medicine which slows the progression of myopia in children aged 4 to 14 years.

EIKANCE contains atropine sulfate monohydrate (atropine) and is administered each night to deliver atropine directly to the eye.

HOW TO USE EIKANCE EYE DROPS

EIKANCE 0.01% Eye Drops should be administered as one drop into each eye at night, or as directed by your Eye Care Professional.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  • Open the foil pouch which contains a strip of 5 ampoules
  • Tear off a single use ampoule from the strip. Place the unused ampoules back in the original pack and keep them in the foil pouch until the next dose is required
  • Hold the ampoule upright and twist the top to open it

Avoid touching the tip of the ampoule to prevent contaminating the eye drops.

Gently squeeze the ampoule to let the solution drop into the eye as follows:

Gently pull out the lower eyelid to form a sac. Allow one drop to fall into the sac without allowing the ampoule to touch the eye. Repeat for the other eye.

Close the eyes and then apply gentle pressure to the tear duct for approximately one minute as soon as the drops have been administered.

Follow the instructions provided by your child’s Eye Care Professional and use EIKANCE 0.01% until you’re told to stop.

If wearing contact lenses, remove them before administering the drops into the eye. Wait 15 minutes before replacing contact lenses.

EIKANCE 0.01% is available as single use ampoules. Discard any medicine left in the single use ampoule after each dose administration.
